The Osiris Codex Walkthrough

TRAINING:
Follow the on-screen prompts to learn the controls. Walk/run to the right along the bottom of the map. You'll pass beneath the exit and Lara will comment. Climb up the ledges and down the other side.

Training Level MapDraw pistols, crouch and shoot the switch (S1) to raise a block (B1) behind you. Stand, holster pistols, turn and run to the left. Climb back up the ledges to the top. With the block raised, you can climb higher. Face right and press Up to jump and grab the ledge above; pull up. Cross the long, flat ledge. At the end, press Down twice to drop to the ledge below. Go to the right and climb the ladder.

At the top, turn around and press Action to jump the gap to the left. Follow the ledge to the left until you come to a movable block. Press Action to grab onto it and Left to push it in that direction. Push the block as far as it will go. Press Action again to let go. Climb on top of the block and jump up to grab the ledge above. Pull up and hop down the other side. Stand over the medipack (GN4700) and press Down to use it.

Continue to the left to the cable. Press Up to jump and grab it. Lara will hold on and slide down automatically. Stand near the switch (S2) and press Action to use it to extend a ledge (L2) near the exit. Climb over the block with the switch and drop down on the other side to land on the ledge you just extended. Press Up to go through the exit door.

Item Name: Pistols

Description: These are the standard pistols that Lara always carries. They are not particularly powerful, but are better than nothing in a tight situation.

Description: This is a small medical pack that will restore a portion of your health. It is an immediate use item and cannot be kept for later use.
LEVEL 1 - PYRAMID ENTRANCE (MP4331)

Level 1 Map From the start, go to the right. Climb over the various blocks until you come to a ladder; climb down and press Down once more to let go and drop. Push the movable block to the left. Climb onto the block and jump over the spike pit to grab the opposite ledge. Pull up. Press Up to go through the exit.

LEVEL 2 - UNFINISHED PASSAGE (MP9662)

Level 2 MapPull the movable block out from underneath the ledge. Climb on top of it and jump to grab the ledge above. Pull up, turn around, and press Action to jump the gap and grab the ledge to the right; pull up. Crouch to pick up the dynamite (GN9342).

Climb over the low ledge. Ignore the block under the ledge; just jump straight up to grab the ledge above. Pull the movable block to the left. Climb over it onto the small ledge above. Walk to the left side and drop and grab the edge. Drop down several more times until Lara is standing on another movable block. Climb over the block to the right and drop down.

Walk to the edge of the spike pit and jump over it to grab the edge of the movable block. Pull up and climb over it. Pull the block to the right until it is underneath the ladder. Climb onto the block, jump to grab the ladder and climb to the top. Jump across the gap and then push the movable block to the left. Climb over the ledge onto the block. Jump over the spike pit to grab the ledge. Pull up and exit the level.

Item Name: Dynamite
Item Code: GN9342
Description: Dynamite can be used to destroy weak sections of walls in the levels. When you pick up dynamite, it is stored in your inventory until you find a place where you can use it. A floating '?' indicates that Lara can interact with the environment. There are several possible types of interaction, one of which is placing the dynamite.
LEVEL 3 - THE PIT (MP5794)

Level 3 MapJump the gap, climb down the ladder and drop onto the movable block. Pull the block once to the left. Then continue to the left and drop down onto the ledge below.

Climb up next to the crumbling stone wall on the left. The '?' icon appears, indicating Lara can use an item here. Press Action to access Lara's inventory. Select the dynamite and press Action again to use it. Then quickly press Right to hop down onto the ledge below before the dynamite explodes. Enter the alcove and get more dynamite and the Ornamental Scepter (CX6840).

Exit the alcove and stand just below the thin ledge with the movable block on it. Step to the right edge and when the moving block comes near press Action ONCE to jump onto it. Ride the block to the right and then press Action once more to jump to the other side. This must be timed carefully to avoid falling into the spikes.

Climb onto the ledge above. Walk to the left edge and jump the gap. Now you're back next to the block you moved earlier. Climb onto the block to reach the switch (S1). Use it to open a door (D1) above.

Drop down onto the movable block. Climb back down on the right side to the spike pit. Ride the moving block back to the left and jump to the ledge. Climb back up to the same movable block. Push it back to its original position, below the ladder. Climb the ladder to the top.

Go to the left, through the passage opened when you used the switch. Climb the stairs and walk to the edge above the spikes. When the moving block descends, jump onto it. Step to the left edge as the block moves upward. Jump to grab the ledge on the left; pull up.

Climb the ladder. At the top, turn right, crouch and draw pistols. Press Action to shoot the snake on the next ledge. Jump across the gap, continue to the next room on the right, picking up a medikit (GN9500) on the way.

Here there are 3 movable blocks, which you must stack in order to reach the ledge above. First climb over the blocks and ledges to the far right corner. Push the lowest of the three blocks all the way to the left. Climb back over the ledge to the first (middle) block and push it to the right so it ends up on top of the lowest block. Finally, climb back up to the highest block and push it to the left so it ends up on top of the other two. Climb onto the blocks to reach the exit.

Item Name: Ornamental Sceptre
Item Code: CX6840
Description: A jewel encrusted, golden sceptre. This has obviously been used in a ceremony at some point and then not returned to its original storage place.

Description: This is a large medical pack that will restore your health completly. It is an immediate use item and cannot be kept for later use.
LEVEL 4 – BAPTISM OF FIRE (MP3826)

Level 4 MapClimb down the ledges until Lara is level with the red switch (S1). Shoot it to start a platform moving below. Hang from the ledge and when the platform moves under Lara, drop onto it. Step to the right edge, then when the platform moves to the right, jump over the spikes to the ledge.

Climb down the ladder and drop to the floor below. Lara will lose some health. If you don't have enough health to survive the fall, you'll have to go back to the main menu and replay level 3, taking care not to lose too much health there, so that Lara starts level 4 with full or nearly full health.

After dropping from the ladder, go to the left. Stepping on the pressure pad (P2) on the ledge causes darts to fire out of the carved head. So don't do that. Instead climb onto the movable block, step to the left side, and jump over the pad to land near the medikit. Then jump back over the pad.

Push the block all the way to the right. Climb onto it and jump to grab the next ledge. Pull up and climb down the ladder and drop to the floor.

Use the switch (S3) to open the door (D3) blocking the exit. Before the door closes again, quickly run and jump over the flames to reach the exit door. If you don't make it in time, return to the switch and try again.

LEVEL 5 - TEMPLE OF KHEPRI (MP1758)

Level 5 MapGo to the left and drop down the ledges. Jump the gap to the left and drop down once more. There's a medikit behind a crumbling wall. Getting it requires dynamite, which you'll also need later in the level, so I recommend not doing this unless Lara is near death.

Push the movable block all the way to the right. Climb over it and down the ladder. Drop to the floor. Pull the movable block to the right. Now go through the door on the right.

You emerge in a separate side area. If you still have dynamite from before, use it now to blow up the crumbling wall. Climb onto the ledge above, get the medikit, jump to the opposite ledge and use the switch (S1) to open a trapdoor (D1) in the previous area.

(NOTE: If you don't have dynamite, return through the door to the left and climb down the ladder that was previously blocked by the trapdoor. At the bottom, drop onto the platform and immediately duck to get the dynamite and avoid the darts flying from the right. After the next dart passes, jump to grab the ladder and quickly climb back up. Return through the door to the side area and use the dynamite to destroy the stone wall.)

Go through the opening where the stone wall was and climb down to the bottom of the room. Stand above the Golden Beetle (CX1943) and tap Down twice—once to crouch and take the beetle and again to stay down as darts fire from the statues' mouths. This only happens once. After the darts have passed, climb back up to the door and return to the larger area.

Climb down the ladder that was previously blocked by the trapdoor (D1). At the bottom, drop onto the platform and duck avoid more darts. (If you didn't get the dynamite before, you will now.) Wait for a dart to pass overhead. Stand, step carefully to the left and duck again. Wait for a dart to pass, stand and press Action to jump over the first spike pit. Duck again. Repeat the process to cross the second pit.

Continue to the left and climb the ladder, again watching out for darts. At the top, jump the gap to the right. If you moved the block earlier, you will be able to climb up and use the switch (S2) to lower a block (B2) to the left. Hop down, walk to the edge and jump to grab the ledge. Pull up and continue to the exit.

Item Name: Golden Beetle
Item Code: CX1943
Description: A classic Egyptian beetle created from solid gold. The beetle's legs have been designed to attach to something. This item will probably have a use in one of the later levels of the game.
LEVEL 6 – BURIAL CHAMBER (MP0580)

Level 6 MapWalk to the edge. Wait until the moving block is moving upward and not quite level with the ledge Lara is standing on, then jump to grab it. Pull up then drop and hang from the right side of the block. Don't let go or Lara will fall into the spikes. As the block moves up and down, watch the second block moving below. When it is directly underneath Lara, let go to land on it. Step to the right edge of the block, ride it to the right and jump to the ledge beyond.

Go to the right, jump the gap and climb down behind the movable block. Pull it to the right as far as you can. Walk to the right edge. Ignore the pressure pad (P1) for now.

The next several ledges have flame jets that cycle on and off. Try to time your movements so Lara pulls up as the jets are going out. First, jump straight up to grab the ledge overhead; pull up. Turn and jump to grab the ledge to the right. Pull up and immediately climb onto the ledge above, turn and jump to grab the ledge to the left. Pull up.

Go left, climb down the ladder and drop down behind the block you just moved. Push it all the way to the right onto the pressure pad (P1). This extends a stone ledge (L1) to the left. Go left, jump over the spikes to grab the ledge you just extended, and pull up.

Drop down on the left side, walk to the edge, and jump across the next spike pit to grab the opposite ledge. Wait for the flame to go out before pulling up. Then quickly step to the left edge and jump over the second spike pit to grab the opposite edge. Again, wait for the flame to go out before pulling up. Climb down the ledges to find a medipack.

Climb down the ladder and jump across the next spike pit to grab the edge of the movable block. Pull up, climb over the ledge and drop down on the other side.

Pull/push the block all the way to the right. Climb onto it and jump to grab the next ledge. Pull up and climb onto the ledge above. Push the second movable block all the way to the left onto the pressure pad (P2). This retracts one of the 2 sets of spikes near the exit below.

Climb down along the right wall until Lara is above a ledge with a flame jet. When the flame goes out, hop down, jump the gap and climb up onto the movable block. Pull/push the block back to its original position on top of the other pressure pad (P3). This lowers the second set of spikes. Climb down and go through the exit.

LEVEL 7 – PUZZLE OF BASTET (MP1212)

Level 7 MapPick up the Golden Eye (CX3981) on the pedestal to the right. This extends set of blocks above, preventing Lara from reaching the exit. This map includes four areas, one in each corner, which you must explore to re-open the exit and find a necessary artifact. You can explore the four corners in any order.

To the right is a tall room with a moving block and spikes below. When the block descends, jump onto it. Ride it upward. Ignore the switch to the left for now. Jump to the next block on the right, then the next. Shoot to the left. Even though you can no longer see the switch (S1), shooting it causes the block on which Lara is standing to start moving up and down. Ride it downward and jump onto the ledge with the medipack. When the block returns, jump back onto it and ride it upward again. Shoot the switch (S2) to the right to start the middle block moving.

Now carefully jump from the right block to grab the middle block. This can only be done when the right block is at its highest and the middle block is only a little higher. You may need to wait through several cycles to get the right positioning.

Ride the middle block to the top and jump to grab the ledge on the right. Use the switch (S3) to reveal one of the steps leading to the exit.

Hang from the end of the ledge, drop to grab the crevice below. Then, when the block directly below moves upward, drop onto it. Turn left, wait for the right and middle blocks to move together as before and jump to grab the middle block. Pull up. Move to the left side of the block and wait for the left block to move level with the middle block. Then jump onto the left block. Wait for the left block to move level with the ledge and then jump again.

Return past the starting point and beneath the ladder to another ladder leading down. Crouch and shoot the snake across the gap, but don't jump across yet. Instead, climb down the ladder on the right side and drop to the ledge below.

Push the movable block all the way to the right. Climb on top of it and jump to grab the pillar with the ladder and the horizontal gap. Climb down to the floor, watching out for the wizard shooting blue energy blasts from his wand. When he moves off to the left, climb up and shoot him. Pick up the Uzi (GN1372) and use the switch (S4) to retract some of the spikes to the left. Pick up the medikit and return to the right. Climb the ladder and drop down on the other side of the pillar.

Kill the priest and then climb onto the ledge with the movable block. Jump to the ledge on the right, then to the ledge with the switch. Use the switch (S5) to reveal another of the steps near the exit.

Jump back across the ledges to the movable block and push it all the way to the left. Climb onto it and jump to grab the edge of the pillar with the ladder on the back. Pull up and jump to grab the edge of the movable block at the edge of the next ledge. Pull up, go to the right and jump over the spikes to grab the ladder. Climb up.

(NOTE: If you didn't push the block into position earlier, climb down the ladder instead. Go to the left, past the switch and the spot where you got the Uzi. Drop down into the spikes and quickly move to the left before Lara dies. Climb the ladder to get out.)

Crouch and kill the snake on the next ledge. Drop down, shoot the mummy, then climb back up through the opening. Head to the right, climb down the ladder and shoot another mummy. Then go all the way to the right, climb into the alcove and take the Glyphed Parchment (CX1179). Hop down, then work your way back up the ledges to the right.

When you reach the two overhead ladders, jump over to the right. Pull the movable block underneath the ladder on the right and climb to the top.

Turn left. If you didn't kill the snake on the other side of the gap, do that now. Jump across and continue to the left. Drop down into a room with a movable block and 2 pressure pads (P6 and P7). Pull/push the block onto the right pad, beneath the ledge. Stand on the left pad and face left. Depressing both pads opens the doors to the left (D6 and D7). Shoot the switch (S8) behind the doors to lower a large block (B8) in the room above.

Pull/push the movable block back to the left and use it to climb up to the ledge with the medipack. Climb the ladder and drop down on the other side. Push the next movable block all the way to the right. (You're able to do this only after lowering the large block into the hole in the floor.) Climb onto the block and jump up to grab the ledge above. Turn left and jump across the ledges to the switch (S9) in the upper left corner. Use it to reveal the third and final step leading to the exit.

To get down without injury, jump across the ledges to the right and drop down onto the movable block. Head back to the left, climb down to the room with the 2 pressure pads. Then climb back up to the start.

Jump to grab the overhead ladder and climb up. Climb the steps to the exit. (NOTE: You cannot leave without the Golden Eye and Glyphed Parchment.)

Item Name: Golden Eye
Item Code: CX3981
Description: On closer examination, this golden object appears to be the eye of a statue, possibly a cat. The slight indentation around the edges of the fitting imply that it might act as some kind of switch when placed in its correct location. This is an item that will probably have a use in one of the later levels in the game.
Item Name: Uzi
Item Code: GN1372
Description: This is a more powerful gun than the standard pistols that Lara always carries. They do twice as much damage as the pistols but have a limited ammount of ammunition. More ammunition can be picked up during the game. When you pick up the Uzi it automatically replaces the pistols until the ammunition runs out.
Item Name: Glyphed Parchment
Item Code: CX1179
Description: This fragment of parchment shows a glyph of a yew tree. This was believed to be the 'tree of life' by the ancient Egyptians (although conversely, its poisonous leaves also endowed it with connotations of death). On the reverse Lara discovers these diagrammatic markings: . Interpreting the marking implies that "solving the puzzle of the moving platforms is reliant on moving the top platform first."
LEVEL 8 – ASCENT TO HEAVEN (MP2834)

Level 8 MapPick up the ammo clip (GN4491) and then use the switch (S1) to ride the moving block (B1) to the level below. Quickly move off the step to the left and duck to avoid flying darts. Continue to the left.

Note the switch (S2) below, but don't try to reach it from here. Watch the flame jets on the platform above the spikes. When the flame goes out, jump over. Unless Lara's health is very low, leave the medikit for now. You may need it later. Avoid the other flame as you jump to the ledge to the left. Ignore the switch (S3) for now. Drop and hang from the ledge, let go to land in the spikes and then quickly move to the left so Lara won't die.

Turn and shoot to the right. You can't see the switch (S2) beyond the spikes, but you will hit it, causing a block (B2) to move up above. Go left, use the medikit and climb the ladder. Jump to grab the ledge with the spikes. Wait for them to retract, then pull up and quickly climb onto the ledge above. Drop down on the other side, watching out for flying darts.

Now hop back onto the platform with the flames and medikit. Stand in the center away from the flames. Shoot the switch (S3) to the left. This causes the platform to move upward.

Holster your guns and move to the right edge of the platform. When the platform passes the small, square block you just moved (B2), jump over to it. You need to do this next sequence fairly quickly so that you can catch a ride on the moving platform as it returns. So drop down on the other side of the block and use the switch (S4) in the alcove to move another block (B4) on the left side of the room. Then immeidately hop down out of the alcove, climb up onto the square block and step to the left edge. When the platform with the flame jets passes, jump back onto it and move toward the middle, away from the flames.

NOTE: If you're not fast enough and miss the descending platform, climb down off the block (B2) on the right side, hang from the edge above the dart trap and drop down to ledge below, losing some health in the process. Then jump back onto the platform.

Shoot the switch to the left (S3) to raise the platform again. This time, as it ascends, move to the right edge. When the platform passes the small, square block you just moved (B4), jump over to it. Drop down on the other side, climb into the alcove and use the switch (S5) to open a trapdoor (D5) in the ceiling high above. Hop down, climb up onto the square block and, once again, jump back to the platform as it descends.

NOTE: So far I have not been able to complete this level without losing any health, so I'm not positive about this, but I don't think it's possible to drop down on this side without dying if you miss your ride on the moving platform.

Move to the middle of the platform and use that medikit now if you didn't before. When the platform stops moving, shoot the switch to the left once more and ride the platform all the way to the top of the room. Jump straight up to grab either edge of the opening in the ceiling and pull up. (It doesn't matter if you choose the right or left side; they're mirror images and either will get you to the exit.)

Move along the ledge, stopping just before the flame jet. Jump to grab the ledge above and quickly pull up to avoid the energy blasts from the wizard or priest's wand. Crouch and shoot the snake on the ledge and pick up the medipack. Climb onto the pillar to reach the exit. (If you like, you can drop down on the other side of the pillar, kill another snake and get another medipack first.)

Item Name: Ammo Clip
Item Code: GN4491
Description: This is an additional ammunition clip for the Uzi. It gets used automatically. This is an immediate use item, which means that if you do not have the Uzi in your possesion when you pick up the Ammo Clip, it will not be saved for use at a later time.
LEVEL 9 – TREE OF LIFE (MP4366)

Level 9 MapJump the gap, climb down the ladders and drop onto the stacked movable blocks.

Before going on, I recommend heading to the left, dropping down into the hallway below and killing the 3 enemies. Climb back up and, if Lara is injured, use the medikit on the ledge to the left.

Climb back onto the movable blocks and pull the upper block once to the left. Hop down and pull/push the rightmost block underneath the rightmost ladder and climb up. At the top, turn left and jump to grab the next ladder, climb up and jump over to the statue.

Press Action to view your inventory, select the Ornamental Scepter (which you obtained in level 3) and use it. This opens three previously sealed passageways, one of which is just above on the right. (This is marked A on the map, the others B and C.) Climb up there and get the Uzi and a medikit.

Climb down and use the switch (S1) near the statue to lower the block (B1) on which Lara standing. Climb back down the ladder to the movable block. Jump to grab the ledge on the right and pull up. There are several sets of retracting spikes ahead. As you make your way to the right, then down along the right wall, wait for each set of spikes to retract so Lara is not injured.

Use the switch (S2a) in the room at the bottom right corner of the map to reveal another switch (S2b) in the hallway above. Climb the first two ledges above the switch you just used (S2a). Kill the 3 enemies in the hallway if you didn't do it earlier. Continue to the left and use the new switch (S2b) to raise the block (B2) on which Lara is standing.

Using this switch also opens a door (D2) back in the spike area. Go to the right, climb onto the block you moved earlier and jump to grab the ledge with the spikes. Make your way carefully past the first set of spikes. Then when the second set retracts, climb into the opening above. Here you'll find the Explorer's Notebook (CX6350). Drop down carefully, avoiding the spikes, and return to the left to the movable blocks.

Move the leftmost block beneath the leftmost ladder and climb up. Use the switch (S3) to extend a ledge (L3) with a ladder just to the right. Climb down.

Now move the left and right blocks back against the middle block. Climb up and push the upper block to the left, directly beneath the ladder you just extended. On the way up to the exit, kill a couple of snakes and pick up a medipack.

Item Name: Explorer's Notebook
Item Code: CX6350
Description: An inscription reveals that the owner of this notebook was one Dr E. Brendan Caldwell, a name familiar to Lara Croft. Dr Caldwell made many discoveries in this region during the twenties and thirties. Many of the pages have perished with time, but the little that remains is intriguing. The notes and drawings seem to relate to a particular part of the tomb. 'We are certain we have discovered a secret room to the west of the chamber which bears the mark of Horus. Alas, without a new stock of dynamite I fear we will be unable to blast through. It is so disheartening; we are almost there. I resolve to return and continue this exploration after my trip to Tibet.
LEVEL 10 – TOMB OF RENENUTET (MP7788)

Level 10 MapClimb the ladder almost but not quite to the top. Wait for a dart to pass overhead. Then climb up and quickly step down into the depression with the medikit. Wait until another dart passes before climbing over into the next depression. Get the dynamite, wait for the next dart, and then climb over the next low wall.

There are spikes beyond the third low wall, so this time wait for the dart, climb up and jump to grab the ledge below the dart trap. Drop down. Then climb down the ladder onto a movable block. Climb over the wall to the left and drop down. Pull the block to the left to position it under the wall with two ladders. Climb up the left ladder and down the right. Continue to the right.

Climb down the ledges, watch the darts then drop down and quickly duck to avoid being hit. Make your way to the right, ducking every time a dart passes. Climb onto the block. Lara is safe from darts here. Watch the passageway to the right. The darts come two at a time but less often. As soon as a pair of darts strikes the block, hop down and run to the right. Climb up through the opening in the ceiling.

Stand on the pressure pad (P1) to reveal a ladder (L1) overhead. Climb up, shoot the snake and pick up the Stone Fragment (CX4486). Use dynamite to break down the crumbling wall to the right and get a medikit.

Return down the ladder and hang from the ledge. Wait for a pair of darts to pass, drop down and run to the right. Jump the gap and grab the other side. (Or, if you fall in, shoot the snake and jump up to grab the other edge.) Wait for more darts to pass, pull up and run off the edge to the right.

Climb down to a ledge above a spike pit. Jump to the block above the spikes, then to the other side of the pit. Continue to the left. There are 2 snakes in the passage below the movable blocks. Drop down and kill them, then go to the left and climb up the ledges and down into the next room. (You don't need to do anything with the blocks and switch.)

Approach the broken stone needle and use the Stone Fragment to extend a ladder from the floor to the ledge above. Climb to the top and pick up the Golden Fang (CX1864).

Now you must move very carefully get past the 3 sets of retracting spikes. Stand at the left edge of the low ledge facing the spikes. When the first set of spikes retracts, jump forward (don't run). Then jump forward as the second set retracts. Then jump forward again as the third set of spikes retracts and quickly run to the exit.

Item Name: Stone Fragment
Item Code: CX4486
Description: This appears to be the tip of a stone needle. It would be appropriate to see if we could return this to its original place.
Item Name: Golden Fang
Item Code: CX1864
Description: This snake's fang has been designed in gold complete with a hollow centre. Careful examination of this hollow channel reveals stains from what is probably an ancient poison. Knowing the Egyptian's predeliction for fast-acting contact poisons, it would be wise not to touch this. The roots of the tooth are designed to fit into a structure of some sort, probably a statue of a snake. This item will probably have a use in one of the later levels of the game.
LEVEL 11 – SLAVE GALLERY (MP2901)

Level 11 MapJump over the spike pit. Climb onto the ledge above, turn right and jump over to the switch (S1). Use it to extend a block (B1) off to the left.

Hop back to the ledge on the left, climb down and continue left. Just before the next spike pit, turn around and climb onto the ledge above. Jump the gap to the left and climb onto the block (B1) you just extended. Climb up, shoot the snake and continue to the left.

Climb the rope ladder on the left side, avoiding the darts if possible. (Don't climb up on the right or Lara won't be able to reach the ledge above.)

At the top, go to the right and use the switch (S2) to raise a block (B2) in the area to the right.

Climb down the ledges, picking up a medipack on the way. Continue down then to the right. Drop onto the block (B1), jump the gap above the spikes, drop down again and continue to the right. Before the spike pit near the starting point, climb onto the ledge above on the left. Then climb the ladder.

Level 11 Map DetailsLevel 11 Map DetailsSpanning the room are 3 platforms on chains. Three switches on the left wall move the blocks in different combinations: The bottom switch (S3) moves only the lower platform. The middle switch (S4) moves the middle and lower platforms, and the top switch (S5) moves all three platforms. It's a little tricky to align the platforms the way you want them, but each switch can be used over and over again. So if you mess up, you can always return them to the starting position and begin again. The Glyphed Parchment from Level 5 somewhat enigmatically indicates you should use the upper switch first.

Beginning with the blocks arranged as they are when you enter (as shown in the main level map at the top of the page), climb to the top switch (S5) and use it twice to move the platforms into the position shown in Map Detail #1. Climb down to the ledge below, jump over to the lower platform, then climb to the middle, then the top platform. From there, climb up to the switch (S6) and use it to move another block (B6) just to the left. Climb down the platforms then back up the left wall to the top switch.

Use the top switch (S5) 12 times to move the top platform to the right and then all the way back to the left. Drop down to the middle switch (S4) and use it 4 times to move the middle and lower platforms into the position shown in Map Detail #2. Climb the ledges to the switch you just uncovered.

Use that switch (S7) to extend a block (B7) in the upper right corner of the room. Return to the switches on the left and use the top switch (S5) 7 times to move the upper platform all the way to the right, then use the middle switch (S4) twice to move the middle and lower platforms into position beneath it (as shown in Map Detail #3).

Climb the movable platforms to the ledge with the pressure pad (P8) just below the block (B7) you just extended. (Ignore the medipack for now.) When Lara steps on the pad, the platforms move again. Turn left, jump up to grab the block and pull up. Go left to the next switch (S9). Use it to move another block (B9) just to the left. Return to the right and drop down onto the pressure pad.

Hop up and down on the pad (P8) until the upper platform is directly beneath Lara. Drop onto it and from there, drop to the ledge with the medipack. Drop to the ledge below. Climb onto the lower movable platform and jump back over to the switches.

Pull the top switch (S5) 5 times, or until the upper platform is directly below the ladder, as shown in Map Detail #4. Climb up to the final switch (S10). Use it to raise a block (B10) far below and to the left, which will enable you to reach the exit.

Climb down the ladder and movable platforms. Then climb down the ladder below the movable ledges. Drop to the floor between the 2 spike pits and go to the left. Jump across the second spike pit and continue to the left. Climb onto the ledge and use the medikit. Climb onto the square block above and jump across to the exit.

LEVEL 12 – THE LOST TOMBS (MP7133)

Level 12 MapQuickly move to the right and grab the ledge above to avoid being hit by darts. Pull up and shoot the wizard and mummy. There are 3 more enemies above, but you don't have to kill them to proceed.

Hang from the ledge on the right, wait for a dart to pass below and then run to the right, falling through the opening in the floor. Grab the ledge on the right side of the same opening, wait for a dart to pass, and then pull up, climb to the higher ledge and get the medipack. Drop down, avoiding the darts, and then head to the right and down the ladder.

Ignore the moving platform to the right. Instead drop off the ledge near some spikes. Stand beneath the cable and jump straight up to grab it. Slide down and press the Down key halfway along to drop onto the ledge above the switch (S1).

If you accidentally slide past that block, don't let go or Lara will fall into a spike pit. Instead slide all the way to the end of the cable. Then climb the ladder on the right wall. At the top, wait for the moving platform to approach and jump onto it. Ride it to the left and jump off. (Lara will take some damage.) Then slide down the cable again and this time drop onto the ledge halfway along.

Climb down and use the switch (S1) to extend a block (B1) to the left. This retracts after a few moments, so quickly turn around, jump across the spike pit, pull up and climb down the ladder to the left. Drop onto the block before it retracts and quickly move to the left. If you're too slow and the block retracts, either drop off the ladder, losing some health, or return to the switch and try again.

Jump over to the ledge on the left and use the next switch (S2) to raise a block (B2) off to the left. This block is also on a timer and will extend again in a few moments. So pull up, run to the left, stop at the edge, jump across to grab the ledge on the other side and pull up. (Lara will jump right past the ladder, but she can't jump through the solid block.) If you're too slow and the block extends before you can make the jump, return to the switch and try again.

When the block comes down again, jump to grab the ladder. Climb up, kill the snake and then jump the gap to the left. Another snake lurks in the shallow pit to the left. You may want to kill it before attempting the next sequence.

Jump straight up to grab the moving block when it is directly overhead. Pull up and step to the left edge. Ride all the way to the left and then jump to grab the next ledge. Pull up, climb into the alcove and jump to grab the edge of the higher moving block when it approaches. Pull up, step to the right edge of the block and ride it to the right. Jump to grab the next ledge and pull up.

Slide down the cable to the bottom. Quickly step down to the right to avoid the darts, but don't run into the spikes. There are 2 more snakes to the left, but you can ignore them. Go through the door to the next level.

LEVEL 13 – CAVERNS OF HORUS (MP3156)

Level 13 MapUnless Lara is near death, leave the medikit for now. Lara's health bar will have to be at least half full to survive a long drop near the end of this level. So try and save this kit as long as you can. Hop across the gap and climb down the ladder.

Push the movable block to the left as far as it will go. Climb onto it and jump over the spike pit to grab the ledge. Pull up and continue to the left. Drop down through the opening in the floor. Use the medikit and then pull the switch (S1) to raise a block (B1) above, revealing a door.

Climb out of the pit on the right side, run to the right, jump across the spikes to grab the movable block and pull up. Turn left and climb up to the door. Go through to a new area.

Drop and hang from either edge of the ledge near the entrance. Drop again to grab the ledge with spikes but don't pull up. Watch the shaman and snake below. When both move off, drop down, draw guns and kill the shaman first. Then crouch to shoot the snake. Ignore the switches (S2 and S3) on the walls for now.

Do not use the ladder on the left, as it is impossible to enter the room below without triggering a deadly spike trap. Instead, climb down the ladder on the right. Pull the movable block to the right and climb over it. Now pull the block into the room on the left.

When Lara passes over the pressure pad (P4a), this extends a set of spikes in the floor below the ladder. As long as Lara is pulling the block and not pushing it, she won't be injured. Pull the block onto the pressure pad.

Cross the room to the left and pull the second block into the room and onto the second pressure pad (P4b). Depressing both pressure pads lowers a block (B4) between the two low steps.

Drop through the opening and pick up the Ancient Key (CX7187). Use the switch on the right (S5) to retract some of the spikes on the ledges high up near the entrance. Then use the left switch (S4c) to raise the block (B4) Lara is standing on. Go to the right and push the movable block out of the room. Climb the ladder to the room above.

If you didn't do so earlier, shoot the 2 switches (S2 and S3) on the left and right walls to retract any remaining spikes on the ledges above so you can climb out safely. Return through the doorway to the previous area.

Jump the gap to the right, cross the ledge and hop down onto the movable block. Pull it to the right as far as it will go. Then climb the ladder to the ledge opposite the entrance. (If you can make it a little farther without using that medikit, try and wait.)

IMPORTANT: While Lara is standing near the lock and the '?' icon is activated, check your inventory for dynamite. You'll take a different path near the end of the level if you have some.

Use the Ancient Key in the lock (L6) to raise the block (B6) just to the left. Go through and climb down the ladder on the other side of the wall. Wait for a dart to pass below and then drop down. As quickly as possible, push the movable block once more to the right. (It should now be as far to the right as it will go.) Run out to the left and climb the ladder to avoid being hit by any more darts.

Use the medikit near the entrance if you didn't do so before. You'll need at least half health to survive the upcoming fall. Climb down the ladder below the lock. Step to the edge of the movable block, jump the gap to the right and pull up.

Slide down the angled cable to the bottom. Lara will be injured in the long fall, but if you've conserved health and used the medikit near the entrance just before the cable slide, she will survive. Pick up the Golden Feather (CX2322) and immediately jump to the right to land on the descending block.

If you have dynamite in your inventory, step to the right edge of the block as it descends. When the block moves alongside a ledge to the right, jump across to grab it. Pull up.

Climb the ledges to the right and use dynamite to destroy the crumbling wall. Enter the room beyond, kill the mummy on the next ledge and jump over there. Climb down the ladder and pick up a bunch of goodies: a Parchment Fragment (CX2822), the Uzi and an ammo clip, plus a medipack. Climb down the ladder and ledges and go to the left. Climb up to the exit.

If you have no dynamite, you should not jump off the descending block or you'll be stranded on the high ledge. Instead ride the block all the way to the bottom. You'll miss a few items, but none are required. Climb down to the floor and then up to the exit.

Description: This bronze key is truly ancient. Looking at the key, Lara hopes that whatever lock it is designed to open has not rusted shut with age.

Description: This parchment indicates that the golden eye and other items acquired need to be used to complete a puzzle. The inscriptions on the parchment show the order in which the items need to be used.
Item Name: Golden Feather
Item Code: CX2322
Description: A fine example of Egyptian goldsmithing techniques. The intricacy of the work involved in creating the vanes of the feather is truly astounding, giving the impression that the feather is from an actual bird rather than being a man-made object. The base of the quill appears to have been designed to fit into some sort of container. This item will probably have a use in one of the later levels of the game.
LEVEL 14 – THE CODEX CONUNDRUM (MP0079)

Level 14 MapClimb onto the ledge above the door and walk to the right until Lara is standing at the edge of the ledge above a ladder. Jump across the gap to the switch (S1). Use it to lower a block (B1) to the left. Jump to the ladder and climb down. Drop to the floor and shoot the 3 enemies in the hallway.

Use the medikit in the shallow pit and pull the switch (S2) to retract the block ledge (B2) above the entrance. Climb back up and go past the entrance to the left.

Pull the movable block twice to the right. Climb over it, go to the left and use the switch (S3) to raise another block (B3) below. It also raises the block (B1) that you lowered using the first switch. So return past the entrance to the top of the ladder. Jump back to the first switch (S1) and use it again to lower that block (B1). Jump back across the gap and climb down the ladder. Go past the second switch (S2) to yet another switch (S4) on the left wall. Use it to lower the block (B4) on which Lara is standing. It descends a long way and finally stops just above a ledge. Hang from the edge and drop. Then climb down the ledges to the right.

The long hallway stretching to the right contains 3 man-sized enemies and 3 snakes. The wizard and 2 mummies shoot energy bolts at Lara, so quickly kill them. Then crouch and shoot the snakes.

Follow the hallway to the right, beneath several ledges. Just before the end of the hall, you'll see a room above with a pair of movable blocks and both a medipack and medikit. If Lara has less than half her health remaining, get and use one of the health packs. Otherwise she won't survive the long fall ahead. To get the goodies, climb onto the ledge, pull then push the first block all the way to the left, and then pull the second block out of the opening. Use only as much health as you need. You can return for the rest later. Then move the blocks back so you can climb down again.

Follow the long hall all the way to the right. Then climb the series of narrow ledges. At the top, jump straight up to grab the angled cable. As she slides down, Lara passes over four high ledges with statues on them. When she is directly above one of the statues, let go to land there.

Position Lara next to the statue and make sure the '?' icon is visible before pressing Action. Otherwise, Action will cause Lara to jump off the pedestal and die. Select the appropriate inventory item and then press Action again to use it. The Golden Beetle goes with the scarab statue, the Golden Feathers are for the bird statue, the Golden Eye belongs to the cat statue, and the snake statue gets the Golden Fang. Each time you use an item to complete one of the statues, a door (D5) off to the right opens partway.

(NOTE: The Parchment Fragment found in the last level suggests you need to use the statues in a particular order—bird, cat, scarab, then snake—but I did not find this to be true. If you're having trouble, try activating the statues in the order indicated by the parchment.)

After activating one of the statues, carefully drop down on the left side, climb down the long ladder and drop to the floor. There is no ladder below the snake statue. Here Lara must hang from the left side of the shaft opening hang and then drop down the ledges, losing about half her health in the fall.

Repeat the process for each of the four statues: Climb the ledges at the right end of the hall, slide down the cable, drop onto a pedestal with a statue, use the correct item and climb down. If you accidentally let Lara slide down the cable past the statue you're aiming for, don't let go. Just keep sliding and she'll drop onto the elevator block (B4). Then just climb down and return along the hallway at the bottom of the map, climb up to the top of the cable and try again. When all four statues have been completed, the door (D5) will be fully open. Follow the hallway along the bottom of the map to the right, climb the steep ledges until Lara is just below the opening, jump to grab the doorsill and pull up.

Do not use the next 2 switches (S6 and S7) they only activate dart and spike traps in the room above and serve no useful purpose. Climb up to the pedestal and retrieve the Osiris Codex (CX2085). Then climb down the ladder on the right. Follow the hallway to the left. (If you accidentally triggered the spikes, wait for each set to retract before moving past them.) Climb down the next ladder and drop to the floor near a medipack.

Use the switch (S8) to raise a block (B8) near the exit in the lower left corner of the map. Climb down the ledges on the right (carefully if you triggered the spike traps here) and the ladder beyond. Go to the left and pull the movable block out of the opening.

Now follow the hallway along the bottom of the map to the left. If you haven't already used the medipack and/or medikit behind the two movable blocks, do that now. Continue to the left and climb up to the exit.

Description: The item Lara has been searching for. A quick glance at the contents indicates that this tome contains several ancient alchemical recipes. However, analysing its contents in detail will take time.
LEVEL 15 – THE ESCAPE (MP8881)

Level 15-A MapThis level involves three trap-ridden areas that will surely test your reflexes.

In the first room (see Area 15-A map), climb the ladder to a hallway with various pressure pads on both sides. Stepping on any of the pads causes multiple darts to fire from the traps at the ends of the hallway, killing Lara.

To avoid triggering any of the pads, follow this sequence, which is numbered step by step on the map: Starting at the top of the ladder, face right and tap Action to jump once (from 1 to 2), then again (from 2 to 3). Turn left, take one step (from 3 to 4), turn back to the right and jump again (from 4 to 5), then once more (from 5 to 6). Climb the ladder to the ledge above.

Go to the left and climb onto the low step at the end of the ledge. The platform ahead is shaped like an inverted 'T' and has a pressure pad on each side. Jump across the gap, clearing the first pressure pad (P1). Climb over to the other side of the platform and step on the second pressure pad (P2). Either pad causes the platform to start moving up and down, but if Lara is on the left side when it starts upward, she won't be struck by the darts coming from the right. As the ledge rises, climb back over to the right side to avoid being hit by the darts from the left. Then climb on top of the platform and stand at the edge facing left. When the platform reaches its highest point, jump straight up to grab the platform overhead. Pull up. (If you miss the grab, ride the platform back down then up again, taking cover from the darts as you go.)

Once on the high platform, shoot to the left to hit a switch (S3) on the left wall to raise a block (B3) near the exit. This also causes the platform on which Lara is standing to begin moving to the left and right. Hang from the right edge, and when the platform moves above the wall with the ladder, drop down. Climb down the ladder and go through the door.

Level 15-B MapThe next room (Area 15-B) involves a rather complex timed run to the exit. Pull the switch (S4) just inside to open a door (D4) barring the exit at the top left of the room. This stays open for about 45 seconds.

To get there, climb the ladder above the switch. Pull the next switch (S5) to set the platform to the right in motion. Turn right, wait for it to approach and then jump onto it. Walk to the left edge and when the platform Lara is standing on moves against the platform with the switch (S6), press Action to use the switch and then immeidately press Up to grab onto the platform where the switch is mounted as it starts moving upward.

Pull up and turn to face right as you ride that platform upward. When the platform pauses at the top, jump to land on one of the tiny square ledges. Jump to the next tiny ledge, then the next. When the platform with the ladder dangling from it descends, jump straight up to grab it. Climb up and step off on the right.

Turn around and climb onto the ledge with the 2 pressure pads (P7 and P8). Crossing these pads makes the platform below begin to move back and forth. To ensure that Lara lands on the moving platform after sliding down the cable, do not hesitate. Just walk across the two pads and jump up to grab the angled cable. By the time Lara reaches the bottom of the cable, the platform should have moved beneath her. As soon as she lands on it, walk to the left edge. When the platform moves all the way to the left and pauses, jump to grab the ledge on the left. Pull up, turn around and climb up to the exit door—hopefully before the door (D5) slides shut again.

Unless Lara is badly injured, ignore medikit on the ledge below. If you must retrieve it, jump back to the moving platform, which is a little lower than the left ledge, then drop from there to the ledge below. Use the health and then climb carefully back down to the first switch (S5), use it and try the climb again. (The paragraph after the next one has tips for climbing down.)

If you don't make it to the exit before the door closes, you'll have to climb back down to the first switch (S5). Do this by dropping from the ledge below the steps leading up to the exit. Or, to conserve health, jump onto the moving platform and drop from there to the ledge below. Use the medikit if you didn't before. Then climb down the short ladder so Lara is hanging from the very lowest rung. When the moving platform below moves upward, press Down to drop and grab onto it. Ride it downward, drop onto the lowest moving platform and from there, drop to the floor. Cross the room to the left and drop down next to the switch. Pull it and then repeat the climb to the exit.

Level 15-C MapThe final room (Area 15-C) consists of one more tricky timed sequence. Climb onto the ledge to the left and pull the switch (S9). This extends all of the ledges above so that Lara can reach the ladders. They gradually retract, from bottom to top, so you have to move quickly.

Immediately after pulling the switch, turn to face right, but don't step forward. Jump to grab the lowest ladder. Climb up, and without moving from the edge, turn to face left and immediately jump forward to grab the second ladder. Again, climb up, turn around and jump to grab the next ladder. Repeat this four more times to reach the topmost moving ledge. Jump up to grab the ladder overhead before the ledge Lara is standing on retracts completely.

Climb to the top of the ladder and jump over to the exit. Go through the door to finish the game!
