Tomb Raider Movie Action Figures

The Lara Croft Tomb Raider movie was released in Summer 2001, and the action figures from Playmates Toys came out in stores in the Spring. A wide assortment of action figures includes two sizes, 6" figures and 12" figures, both sizes looking like perfect plastic versions of actress Angelina Jolie, who plays Lara Croft in the movie.

To keep her in shape for life's next big journey, she trains in black shorts, boots, T-shirt, and utility belt--all non-removable. Her backpack, watch, and thigh holsters are also permanently attached. The combat training gear included with this 6-inch figure, which is based on Angelina Jolie's film portrayal of the video game beauty, consists of two silver pistols, two semi- automatics, a missile launcher with missile, and a walkie-talkie. Only her waist, shoulders, and neck are articulated, while her legs are eternally posed in a weird stance, making chase sequences (and standing upright) somewhat difficult. A gold plastic triangular base is included for those who think Miss Croft is better suited for display.

Whether in her high-tech home base of Croft Manor or in the most remote regions of the world, international action hero Lara Croft is prepared for adventure. When the adventure requires zooming around on a motorcycle, the 6- inch figure (based on Angelina Jolie's film character rather than the video game icon) dresses in black pants, a white T-shirt, a black jacket, black boots, and dark sunglasses--all of which are permanently attached. In case she runs into unexpected guests, Lara is equipped with several handy items: a shotgun, a rifle, two semi-automatics, a missile launcher with missile, a backpack, and a gold artifact. Worth noting is that while her waist, elbows, shoulders, and neck are all articulated, her legs are placed in an eternal stance, which would make riding a motorcycle quite impossible. However, a gold plastic triangular base is included and her stance on it is a perfect fit.

Lara's thigh holsters (or hands) can hold the two silver pistols (included), but the remaining arsenal--two semi-automatics, missile launcher with missile, grappling hook, and walkie-talkies--will likely have to be used one at a time. While her waist, elbows, shoulders, and neck are articulated, her legs are not moveable, which makes chase sequences quite dull. A gold plastic triangular base is included for those who think Lara is more for display or for when the adventure is over.

Stone Monkey Warrior

As a fierce temple protector, the Stone Monkey Warrior is ready to fend off any intruders trying to make their way into his ancient realm. Equipped with two swords that fit in either hand, the mean guardian is made of gray plastic and intricately detailed to look like something Lara Croft would raid a tomb for rather than fight. The figure is articulated at the shoulders, elbows, waist, and neck, but his legs are permanently posed in a stance that requires the help of the gold plastic triangular base in order to stay upright.

Tomb Raider Combat 2 pack. Based on a scene from the Tomb Raider movie, 6" Lara Croft comes in Combat Training gear with a gun that really fires missles. Shoots S.I.M.O.N. the training robot and his arms fly off when hit. Lara stands on a replica stone plinth, included.
