Luscious Lara loves her Sony (February 9)

Let's face it, unless you are packing an iPhone or iPod touch in your pocket then games on mobile phones aren't so hot. But Carphone Warehouse is aiming to change that with the release of a new motion-sensitive handset from Sony Ericsson. And who better to enlist to help promote it, than Lara Croft herself – well, Gizmo favourite Alison Carroll who plays her.

On sale now, the W910 Exclusive Gaming Edition and motion-sensitive F305 handset come pre-loaded with Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 09, Tomb Raider, FIFA Manager and SIM City Metropolis. The F305 also has 50 free smaller games in the box to plug in and by tipping and turning the device you can control the action on screen.

She told [The Sun]: "It’s very exciting to be honest to see Lara on a phone. You know to be able to go anywhere, whether you're on the train, or in the car, or waiting to go into a meeting or something. You can just whip out your phone and play Tomb Raider: Underworld, and it’s the best thing ever!"

Dave Hilton, of Sony Ericsson, added: "The clever motion sensors on the F305 mean we’re getting ever closer to giving our consumers the same gaming experiences they would normally have on their consoles." It's true, phone entertainment has come a long way since Snake on the Nokia and Mr Hilton is right.

But there is still a long way to go to match Apple's applications or the Nintendo DS. Even Nokia's new N-Gage mobile offerings fail to hit those heady heights. If gorgeous Lara is on board though, then it's certainly worth rephewing the options available!
